Customer reviews depict a lively atmosphere where the food is celebrated, albeit with a few minor service hiccups that some diners have experienced. Mar, who dined here, exclaimed, “Fantastic food! Great service!”, emphasizing the enjoyable vibe and highlight of the must-try wings. Another patron, S Speed, was over the moon about her oysters, remarking that they truly captured the essence of Southern flavor. Conversely, some reviews point out that certain dishes could use a bit more finesse; however, the twinkling “good enough” comments suggest that 55 South is continuously striving to refine its offerings.

While the occasional wait for food has been noted, the friendly and attentive staff, like Heather who impressed guests with her service, help make the experience worthwhile. The atmosphere is lively, buzzing with excitement, especially on game days, making it a perfect spot to cheer on your favorite team. Yes, the reviews are mixed, but they all highlight the enthusiastic vibe, making it worth the visit whether you're a local or just passing through Brentwood.

So come on down to 55 South, where hearty dishes and camaraderie await you. Whether it's a family dinner, a night out with friends, or just a casual meal, this bar and grill is ready to serve up delicious bites that will have you wanting to return again and again.

Fantastic food! Great service! Easy parking and nice atmosphere both inside and out. The wings are a must try.

I could tell that it could of been excellent. My oysters were a bit overcooked. My entire wasnt great but it was good enough for the prices.

Oysters!!! 10/10!! I’m a South Louisiana girl and these just blessed me so. Brisket tacos and red beans. Red beans: you can taste the southern flavor. 10/10 Brisket tacos: I don’t even like guacamole and these were delicious. 10/10 So glad I treated myself to lunch here. There’s so much more on this menu I want to try. I can’t wait.

MIXED reviews are understood. Was it terrible? No. Was it fantastic? No. We had the fried chicken sandwich with fries, the hot chicken sandwich (on white bread), and the gumbo. All were good. Fries were the best thing. We were seated and ordered right away (and our server Heather was great), but the food took a while to come out, which was surprising because they were not busy. We did not have anywhere to be so it did not bother us. Atmosphere is nice and casual. Large bar area with TVs. Clean. Nice place to have a beer, and food is better (with more choices) than a typical sports bar. Seems more of a lunch/brunch spot than dinner spot.

A wonderful bar a grill with excellent service and country atmosphere. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. My wife had the shrimp and grits and found it a bit over spiced and the grits also seemed a bit over cooked. I enjoy my shrimp and catfish po-boy. It the perfect size for me and was delicious. If your in Brentwood it is a great place to stop by for a meal and enjoy the games in the yard

The food was excellent. We had several different items and they were all great. We will definitely be back. The only issue was slow service. We were routinely out of drinks. At one point, when I asked for water, the waitress got attitude "Yeah, I've got it." At this point we had been sitting for at least 10 minutes with empty glasses. I am going to give her grace and hope that she was just having a bad day.
